Invention Fair

As we prepare for a potential blizzard on Tuesday, I am anticipating losing at least one day of instructional time.  Over my past two years at CPrep, we have lost a lot of school days to snow during this time of year - sometimes a whole week!  I have learned from this and have organized the Invention Fair assignments accordingly.  If/When we have a snow day, Invention Fair assignment due dates DO NOT CHANGE.

I cannot stress how important it is for students to complete all assignments on time - this is a big project.  If the work is done in pieces, as outlined below, it is much less overwhelming and less stressful for everyone.

All 4th and 5th graders should have come home Friday with an Invention Plan and an Invention Log.  The Invention Plan is due Monday - we started these in class on Thursday or Friday.  On the second page of the Invention Log, you will see all the due dates/check points for this project.  The Log is divided into numbered items.  Each item number pairs with a question or direction that needs to be completed.  There are a couple parts that are not included on this checklist because they are not contained in the Invention Log.  Directions for these will follow with in-class assignments.

All that being said, students should have started working on their Invention Fair Log this weekend.  Invention Log due dates are listed below.  The bulk of these assignments will be done as homework, but many will be started in school the day before they are due.  Students need to bring their Log to school EVERY DAY.  I will be checking Logs on the due dates and it will go towards their overall project grade.
